Item sent to a US Address rec'd Damaged Overseas
I sent a packaged to the US address ebay supplied. 29 days later a women contacted me and said the item arrrived damaged. She freely admitted on ebay message that she has items sent to US address of a friend. The packages are not inspected or even opened. They are just put into a big box and shipped to her in another country. I tell her that I am only responsible for delivery to the first address (as per ebay policy. She slams me with a long negative feedback full of character criticism and states she only wanted an apology for my oversight(?)
After days and days of trying to get in touch with ebay (They all claimed someone would get back in 24-72 hours but nobody ever did), I finally got a phone number from someone on an facebook ebay acct. I spoke to a nice enough fellow who said he would take it up and "advocate" for me. I told him that it was my understanding from reading ebay policy that I was only responsible for shipment to the US address and that the buyer lost ebay protection once the item was re-shipped. I also said that when the buyer chose to forward the package without inspection, she made it impossible to ascertain where the damage had occurred.
A little while later I got a reply from someone (not the guy I talked to) that read "I understand that you want the feedback to be removed as you shipped the item in good condition" ???????????????? I never made any such request and I think I would have had to be the village idiot to have done so.
Immediately afterwards, I got 2 form letters from the folks I'd talked to a week or more earlier with instructions on how to put a buyer on the blocked bidder list, request feedback removal etc. All of which had already been done
At this point I don't know why the ebay policies do not apply to me or why I can't make a removal request without my words being twisted into something so stupid it is insulting. Is this par for the course around here? I have been selling off and on for 25 years now. I don't believe I ever requested feedback removal before and I frankly expected to be treated better than this.
