Item sent 1st class, buyer says never received
Summary: ricoman1 shared an experience about selling a card and shipping it via first class, only to have the buyer claim it was not received and receive a refund from eBay. comics-scifi-collectibles offered clarification on using eBay's shipping service, noting that it includes tracking through specific applications and suggested filing an insurance claim. comics-scifi-collectibles also advised responding to cases promptly to avoid defects and other potential issues.
So I sold a "trade Card"..no bigger than a playing card, and shipped 1st class for around $2.00 to save the buyer the $8-9 for Ground.Label was printed from Ebay shipping and shows a number, but not tracked.Seller said he didnt get after 2 weeks and told him to hang on.....he opened a case for refund.YESTERDAY I looked at my "Sales" and right on to[ of item it said in green,DELIVERED......
Now this morning I get notice Ebay refunded the buyer for the card..>!!! I shipped 4 of same type item that week and had no problems.......buyer is a scammer, yet ebay gives $$ back....WHY????

Mentor3 weeks ago@ricoman1 Did you ship with eBay Standard Envelope?
You said you shipped without tracking but then say tracking shows delivery. Can you please clarify.

OP3 weeks agoShipped in regular envelope with EBay printed label. When i go into My Labels there is clearly a uspo #,but not tracked..when I go to uspo and use the number it says ITS Delayed.....yesterday my sales page actually listed it as Delivered, but today that's gone, since they refunded him.I realize it wasnt "tracked" and was shocked when label printed out with a number...Clearly it was shipped, since I printed label and usps does have it,all that was shown on my sales page...so yes..very confusing to say the least that ebay would issue refund when their page said delivered.
I always use Ground with tracking, and those 4 items,it just seemed crazy since only 1/2 0z,and all worth under $10,so crazy to charge $8 to ship...90% are honest on here, been selling since they opened, but will always have a few that need $10 more than you...I totally say the buyer scammed me and bet if it finally does arrive,he will not say so...agree,its been 3 weeks, but ive waited over a month for 1st class items with no tracking from sellers.

Mentor3 weeks ago · Edited@ricoman1 It is Tracked, it's just not regular tracking.
One these should show tracking>
https://trackmyshipment.co
https://parcelsapp.com
The tracking is ONLY read by the sorting equipment and the envelopes must be flexible enough to bend around a standard coffee mug.
You can see information about the envelope requirements here>
https://www.ebay.com/sellercenter/shipping/choosing-a-carrier-and-service/ebay-standard-envelope
You can file an insurance claim since you had to refund the buyer> https://www.pip-claim.com/PIPClaim/eBayIntClaim/CreateeBayClaim
Always respond to cases right away before eBay steps in and forces a refund. When eBay forces a refund you get a defect, do not get your sellers fees back, and the buyer may be allowed to keep the item.

OP3 weeks agoThank you for info.....and everything meet requirements, label price was .74 cents...picture a playing card inside an envelope...
I've been selling for 20+ years...just dont usually sell thin paper items that can go 1st class..and problem is....ANY buyer can scam you and say they never got it...so your depending on buyers honesty....sad that people will scam you for $10.
Also,I DID respond to seller ASAP within hours.,its in my "messages" to prove.
My gripe is Ebay should not of refunded the buyer yet, since it shows "Delayed Shipment" on the USPS site....AND,yesterday Ebay showed "Delivered"...not it shows "Refunded"
Again, thank you for info, but there is no way I'm filling out those long forms to hope to get a lousy $10 back....LOL!!
Already spent way more time on this than I wanted...I will just chalk it up to a learning experience and will NEVER send anything via 1st class thru Ebay again...
