Item received from a sender delivered from Amazon
I received a package from Amazon which had me perplexed because I had not placed an order with Amazon. I opened it and found the same phone case that I had ordered from the seller.
The case is for a brand new style of phone and it barely fits in case, the buttons don't fit in the holes.
The seller sent me an email thanking me for my order and said if I had any issues to reach out.
I contacted the seller about this and seller did not respond. I told him if I had wanted to order from Amazon I would have done so. I started an inquiry with ebay. Later received a standard email from ebay saying my package had arrived but a different carrier and different tracking number was listed than what was on the package.
Is this fraudulent? I thought so.
Honestly wanted to give an ebay business business instead of Amazon. Thanks for your reply. I am unable to find how to contact ebay.

·1 year agoThere is one very important factor that you didn’t mention. Did the Amazon package have a “gift receipt†included? If it did, that means that the seller used their Amazon Prime account to purchase and ship the item. That’s a policy violation on both eBay and Amazon.
HOWEVER, many sellers sell on both platforms, and store their items with Amazon. Then they have Amazon handle the shipping process. That’s completely acceptable on both platforms.

OP1 year agoThanks so much. Finally found that answer yesterday. The item doesn't fit my phone, seller doesn't take returns, thought well if they are using Amazon I could have done that and then been able to return.
No gift receipt, reached out to seller who didn't respond so stuck with the item.
Thanks again.

Not necessarily. Did the listing claim that the case would fit your phone? If it did, then you can open a claim for refund, with the reason "not as described" or "does not match description" or whatever wording eBay is using now. To do that, proceed as follows:
• go to your Purchase History page, and find the item
• on the right, near the margin, click the More actions button
• a drop down menu will open, click Return this item
• click the Doesn't match description or photos radio button
Those directions are exact, as far as they went. I was actually doing it as I related them to you, but I don't want to go ahead and click the "Doesn't match" button ... I don't know how far I could go before it actually opened a return for me. Go ahead and continue until you've opened the claim.
eBay requires the seller to send you a prepaid shipping label to return the item, then when he gets it back, refund your money. His "policy" doesn't matter. The return overrides it.
If the seller doesn't cooperate, then on the fourth day after opening the claim, you can ask eBay to step in and help. They will cooperate. Get more info about that here https://www.ebay.com/help/buying/returns-refunds/ask-ebay-step-help-buyers?id=4701
