Item not received... eBay says it's not their problem?
Question... I bought a Nintendo Wii drum set for my wife (don't make fun of me, haha) for ~$75... and the person who I bought it from told me they can't ship it because they misjudged shipping. I told them no problem, just refund me the amount. The seller no longer responds to messages, and didn't respond to that last one. This was almost 2 months ago.
I submit a claim with eBay, and they tell me it's not covered under their Money Back Guarantee... apparently. I'm not sure I understand how / why, but they're basically not giving me an option to be refunded. I'm not the biggest seller / buyer on eBay, but I've had an account for over a decade and just under 1,000 feedback with a 100% positive... and that's split evenly as a seller and a buyer.
Can someone explain to me why eBay thinks they aren't responsible for refunding me? I've filed a claim with my credit card company. I'm a really good customer, so I know my credit card will reimburse me, which will mean eBay will be stuck with the reversed charge. I'm sure they'll say I owe them, to which point I'll simply close my account.
I honestly don't care at this point, as eBay has declined significantly over the years in my opinion, and I can get just as much from Etsy and / other sites. But it's the principle of the matter that offends me. Why has eBay become what it has, and is there any alternative to this outcome?

Anyway, I appreciate any responses, even if it's, "that sucks..." haha... thanks.
