Item not received
I ordered an item on 4/2 and it was supposed to arrive 4/11. I received tracking information and delivery date which was supposed to be today. It never arrived and the post office said that the tracking number did not correspond to my address. What kind of a scam is this?

OP4 months agoThey only let me know that the item I bought is no longer on eBay because of an issue with the sellers account. I did forward this to instagram customer service. Thanks good suggestion.

OP4 months agoI spoke to the supervisor who spoke to his boss and was told that they are not allowed to provide a written statement concerning the fact that the name and address on the label is not my address. Still waiting for results on missing mail search. In addition EBay seems to be moving against this seller and took down his listing and found problems with his account so there may be so movement there. I’ll keep you informed. Thanks again.

OP4 months agoJust got great news from eBay. Since the seller is no longer on the site they’re forcing a refund from his account and I should be receiving it within 48 hours. I think this is also great news for the community as it shows eBay really does have our back although I wish I didn’t have to jump through so many hoops. Certainly and for sure I could not have succeeded without you help and encouragement. Thanks again!

I'm sorry that happened.
b) If your name and address weren't on that label, ask the Post Office/shipper if they will put this in writing; it's helpful, but not required. Also, ask for the weight of the package using that tracking number. Follow the rest of the steps starting with 2 below:
2) Then, report the seller using this process

Important, select "Suspicious seller activity"
then "Other"
Explain that the seller is using fake tracking numbers
Include these phrases
Don't write a novel, it's initially being read by a computer, that's why I want you to use those 3 specific phrases in the message.
3) Finally, contact Customer Service and inform them that the seller uploaded a "false tracking number" on your purchase. Share any documentation you gathered. Request a refund.
Use the Customer Service that is on Instagram this way:

Send a private direct message to the page. Explain you have a fake or false tracking number situation.
Let me know how this goes, I've been burned a few times myself (including on Amazon), but I have been able to get a refund following this process.
There are additional steps to take if the above isn't effective, just come back and update me.

OP4 months agoCustomer Service on instagram wants me to provide them with documentation that my name and address are not on the label. Although the supervisor confirmed that he was not able to provide written documentation. Where do I go from here?

1) Does the tracking show delivered to your zip code or to another zip code?
2) Will your post office be willing to confirm in writing that your name and address weren't on the package? You may have to push. Be sure to explain, you aren't asking whose name was on there, only that your name and address were not on that package,

OP4 months agoI did exactly that in person and he confirmed that it was a different name and address on the shipping label but would not provide written documentation. I did file a missing mail search on the USPS site. Hopefully that will get results. Thanks so much for your help

Ask if they will tell you the weight (they often do) of that item.
Ask again if the USPS clerk will write something about the package, something like this.

1) First, call the postal carrier to see if the tracking number label had your name and address on it.
a) If your name and correct address were on the label, ask the postal carrier to review the GPS on the delivery, retrieve the item from the wrong house, and deliver it to you.
b) If your name and address weren't on that label, ask the postal carrier if they will put this in writing. Also, ask for the weight of the package using that tracking number. Follow the rest of the steps here:

If the above steps do not result in a refund then you will have to pursue a chargeback with your funding source ( bank, credit card, etc) . Once you ask your funding source to step in eBay can no longer assist you.
