Item not received? 3 day decision?
Summary: sergrochon expressed frustration about the lack of protection for sellers when items are claimed as not received through eBay's standard envelope service, which doesn't provide tracking. They noted that an item wasn't marked as returned despite having a return address and questioned the impact on seller performance. They suggested that eBay implement a low-cost shipping option that would protect sellers and offer a reasonable solution for buyers of lower-priced items.
Item not received - seller always loose. Had another buyer claim item not received on September 29th. Ebay already refunded the buyer. Only $5.86, but with ebay standard envelope, no tracking other than dropping off. If those that never arrived didn't get delivered why do I never get any back since I have a return address? And why does it go against seller performance? I ship always within 24 hours. Would be nice if ebay could have a low cost shipping option for those lower price items to protect seller and give buyer a reasonable option.

For ESE (eBay Standard Envelope) the normal practice is to refund the Buyer through the claim and BEFORE the 3 day claim ends. Then you go back to eBay and file your own claim. eBay standard envelope | eBay
If you do NOT refund the Buyer during the 3 day time period then your account will get a defect for not resolving an issue on the transaction.
While I agree that there should be lower cost door to door tracked services for envelope type shipments the issue is with the carriers. I could see a logistical nightmare if USPS started to put door to door tracking on envelope shipments and carriers having to scan more than just packages when they deliver mail.
