Item Not as Described – Looking for Help - Case already Closed
Hi,
I bought this item back on December 10 since it was listed as fitting my car. My mechanic finally had a chance to look at it recently, and it turns out the part doesn’t fit my car at all. He said it actually looks like a Honda part and shouldn’t have been listed for a Mazda in the first place — it wouldn’t even fit later model years of my car.
I tried to start a return last night under “item not as described,†but the seller denied it pretty quickly. I know it’s been about 41 days since the purchase, but I only just found out it was the wrong part once my mechanic checked it.
I’m hoping there’s a way to resolve this without having to do a chargeback. I’d really rather not go that route, but I’m kind of stuck since the item isn’t usable and I’m currently tight on money after getting laid off.
I’m also a seller on eBay myself, so I understand how frustrating disputes can be. I’m just trying to get this sorted fairly since the item was clearly mislisted.
Thanks for any help you can provide — I really appreciate it.

Mentor8 months ago@legacymando2005 I am sorry but the eBay Money Back Guarantee is only 30 days from the date of delivery. An eBay agent can not extend this or they would have to extend it for everyone.
Your only option is going to be a chargeback. The seller will wish that they had just accepted the return as they will have to pay a $20 chargeback fee in addition to the refund if the funding source rules in your favor.

OP8 months agoGot it. I'll have to remember that the 30day return policy is rigid on Ebay for my future purchases....its 2026 and I assumed Ebay would have been able to make exceptions in cases like this. Hopefully they wont shut down my account for making a chargeback but if they do I'll just make another one and start from scratch. Thanks!
