Item not arrived
Purchased an item on 12/11, and it was shipped 12/12. It still has not arrived. I opened a case and the seller told Ebay that the package is still on it's way. They claim that the package was found.
When I stopped by and spoke to our postmaster today 1/8, he said it has NOT been found and it is NOT moving. He said it has not reached a facility since 12/19. He relayed that the seller called our local post office yesterday and spoke to them. The seller marked the package as "package research, case closed". However, it's not moving and it's not been "found".
What are my options now? Ebay says that if I haven't received it on 1/18 they will step in. That's beyond the return date of the item, if it even gets here and it's damaged then what? What can I do?

OP1 year ago@eastlaneaveThank you for your response. What I don't understand is that it's marked "case closed" only on eBay. There's not been a case opened on the USPS website, and it shows nothing about a case being closed. I asked eBay to step in, but the seller showed them the tracking that the package is "on the way" but it hasn't moved since December 19th.
Is there not a place to respond to eBay to dispute the seller?

For clarity, in the first message you said the eBay case said "Ebay says that if I haven't received it on 1/18 they will step in. "
In your second message you said "it's marked "case closed" only on eBay"
In order for me to best advise you, I need to know if your case is still open on eBay. If it is closed, did you close it (even accidentally?)
If the case is open, and it says on 1/18 they will step in.
- then just wait until the 18th and contact eBay
If your case is closed, yes you can appeal it.

Once any appeals with eBay are exhausted, you can open a chargeback with PayPal or your credit card. But it is best to exhaust eBay options first.

OP1 year ago@eastlaneaveThank you so very much for your help! I sincerely appreciate it. This is the first time this has happened to me and I was at a loss of what to do. It says "case open with customer support" but under the shipping history it says "PACKAGE RESEARCH CASE CLOSED". From what I gather, I'll wait till the 18th. Again, thank you so very much!

Ignore the shipping history, that is USPS, not eBay

When eBay steps in, you'll get a refund since the seller can't show delivery.
Side note:
The seller marked the package as "package research, case closed" <--- only the USPS can mark the package research case closed.
