Item never arrived, No option for refund or opening case
I bought a sports card last September and never received it. The tracking info still says it is ‘in transit to the authentication facility’ and we’re now in May… I tried opening a case but it automatically closed after 30 days without any help from eBay or the seller. Now I’m stuck with no card and out $200. About a month ago I was able to get in contact with a real eBay agent and she said it would be refunded within 5 business days… well I’m still here and have heard nothing and have not received any refund. I’ve tried to contact a real person again but it seems like eBay has basically shut that down because I cannot for the life of me find a way to get on a call with a real person. Like I said, I can’t open a case or request a refund or anything, please let me know if anyone has experienced this or what I can do to get my money back for the item I never got and the tracking confirms never arrived!

Mentor5 months agoHi @pacific.preme
You're too late to get help from eBay - it's been 8 months. You must open a case within 30 days of the estimated delivery date in order to take advantage of the Money Back Guarantee. At this point, you can contact your credit card company to ask about a charge back. Hopefully you aren't too late for that too.

OP4 months agoBruh… it said it was still shipping and being authenticated past the 30 days so how was I supposed to know it would never come!!?? I tried getting in contact about the long wait before which is why I opened a case but it automatically closed before any of the tracking information changed (and it still hasn’t). Thank you for trying to help but I got straight up scammed by eBay, I’m pretty sure some warehouse worker stole it or something bc the tracking literally says it’s still in route to the authentication center to this day 😂. eBay is a bunch of scammers this is **bleep** and I’m not gonna act like it’s my fault for not getting help in time or something. It’s **bleep** that I can’t open a case about this or get into contact with a real mfn person (for the 2nd time after they didn’t follow through on their word the first time!!!!) I am very frustrated but thank you for trying to help.

If the item was lost on the way to the authenticator, that's not on eBay. You still could have opened a case within 30 days of the estimated delivery date shown in your Purchase History and eBay would have made sure you were reimbursed once you escalated the case.
It's too late for help from eBay, but as I already advised, you should contact your credit card company ASAP to see if they can help.

OP4 months agoOk my bad if I wasn’t clear in original post but I did open a case bro lol. I literally marked it as “item hasn’t arrived” with the following message:
Dec 27:
"Can I please understand why this has apparently been in the process of being shipped to eBay for 3 months? If its sitting in the eBay warehouse waiting to be verified I would like to know that. I havent seen any updates in 3 months and havent gotten any word from ebay on why this is taking so incredibly long. It says
"Running Behind" but this seems a little more than running behind.
I just want to be in the loop, am i ever gonna actually receive it?"
Dec 28 :
“seller added tracking info”
(which was already there? There was not actual change or update)
21 business days later it closed because of “no activity”
What did I do wrong here exactly?

What you did wrong was that you did not go back to the case and use the option to ask eBay to step in before it closed.

OP4 months agoOk, understood. I didn’t press the correct button. Butttt how come when I managed to get on a call with an eBay agent, who then transferred me to an American based representative, she told me it would be refunded in 5 business days? Like I literally got into direct contact with multiple employees at eBay and was told I would be refunded… then silence. I honestly don’t care about getting my own money back (I understand it’s been 8 months lol) but this will definitely happen to more people and/or has happened to others. I believe it’s a problem at eBay that should be looked into internally.
