Item I purchased missing a piece I need
I purchased a surveillance camera which is suppose to come with a light socket. The seller did not include the socket so the camera is useless. I believe he knew it was not in the box because instead he included a bulb and a blb does not come with the camera which is stated in the manual. He has a no return policy so I can't get my money back. He even admitted in a round about way that he would try and fix the problem but you can't purchase the part from the company because it is discontinued. I opened a claim but the options it allows you to pick does not match my problem. Based on the reply from them I am not sure if the case is closed. See below. If the case is closed, I plan on appealing because he knew the part was missing and I don't have money to throw away. Any advise? Thank you.

OP5 months agoAfter back and forth emails with the seller I filed a case with Ebay. The problem was the drop down you choose from did not have the correct reason so I had to choose the best match. See below hoe Ebay responded.
First response.
We’re looking into it now. We’ll let you know once we’ve reviewed it and provide you with details of any decision that we make.

You did NOT ‘file a case’. It looks like you ‘reported the listing’ … again. That is NOT what you need to do to get refunded.
Please follow the directions I gave you in my previous post to file a return request. You do that from your Purchase History under ‘More Actions’. You can choose EITHER ‘Missing parts or pieces’ OR ‘Doesn’t match description or photos’ as the reason. [The wording might be slightly different.]
[The fact that the seller has a ‘no return’ policy means you can’t request a return if you simply ‘change your mind’. That isn’t what is happening in your case … so the seller’s return policy is irrelevant.]

Mentor5 months agoYou have no filed a case it appears from what you posted. It appears you only reported the listing.

Mentor5 months agoTheir no return policy means diddly squat if item isn't as described.
Do as @house*of*paws mentioned.

Mentor5 months agoHi @mspoo44
It sounds like you merely reported the listing.
What you should do now is file a ‘return request’ from your Purchase History … choosing ‘Missing parts or pieces’ as the reason for the request.
If the seller fails to provide either a prepaid shipping label OR a full refund within 3 business days … then return to your open request on Day 4 and ask eBay to step in. eBay will take it from there.

OP5 months agoThe seller has a no return option that is why I filed a claim and explained in detail what the problem was since the drop down to choose from did not match what my problem is. I understand he has a no return policy but he did not send all the parts and according to Ebay the description was correct on what he was selling, but again I explained to them ta part was missing which he knew because he was going to order a socket on Amazon which is not compatible. I have all the emails.
