Item For Sale listing not completed due to paperwork issue
Summary: blrblr-1 encountered an issue with a listing on eBay, where they halted listing an Electrolux Double Wall Oven due to privacy concerns but were later billed a $56.25 fee. Despite a chat agent indicating they shouldn't owe this fee, eBay continued to demand payment and threatened collections. eastlaneave suggested potential reasons for the charge and advised contacting customer service for a waiver or credit. blrblr-1 had trouble receiving a response from customer service and was advised to use eBay's social media channels for further assistance. They confirmed a balance due on their account, adding urgency to resolving the issue.
I started a listing for an item but when I got to the page that required me to provide personal and financial information I stopped. For security reasons we cannot provide that kind of information online.
I received a notice to pay a listing fee a short time later and reached out via bot/chat and was advised that since the listing never went live I should not owe a listing fee.
I believe this to be the appropriate response but Ebay is still asking for payment and threatening to try to collect from an agency.
How do I get Ebay to call off the hounds?

Do you see a balance due here:
https://resolution.ebay.com/rw/IssueResolutionCenter
The Issue Resolution Center is your home base to help resolve compliance issues with your account or listings. You may see issues such as:
Completing ID verification
Paying off a negative balance
Providing required tax information
Addressing policy issues on listings, such as product safety requirements

Or do you see a balance due here: https://www.ebay.com/mes/summary
If you see a balance, then there is a payment due and you need to work with Customer Service to get it waived. (or pay it but I understand that's not ideal).
If you aren't having luck getting a call back, try using eBay's social media-based customer service to get assistance

Your account has 1 item sold, sometime more than 90 days ago.
Could that item be it?
What is the amount that eBay is asking for and what was the item you were trying to list? That can help me sort out the issue.
Or you can contact customer service and ask for a courtesy credit to your account.

OP3 weeks agoThe amount is $56.25. The item was an Electrolux Double Wall Oven. Thanks.

Where you going to sell it for about $400?
That would be the final value fee on about that amount.
I think it's likely the oven was listed,
Someone bought it, which incurs a final value fee
You didn't ship, buyer filed a case to get their money back.
eBay policy says you still owe them since they produced a buyer for your item.
Even though you didn't complete the banking portion, it's common that the listing is live anyhow.
Contact customer service and ask for it to be waived or a courtesy credit issued.

Mentor3 weeks agoIf you listed the item as an auction with a reserve price then the reserve price is non refundable no matter what happens with the auction. A reserve price is a listing upgrade and the fee is charged to you as soon as you click on list.
