Item did not pass inspection at the international hub
Hello. Recently I have sold two volume set - Russian dictionary of obscene language. It is was published by and created by Russian University Language Department. Very rare and valuable. It was purchased by international buyer, but I couldn't see where he/she was from as I mailed it eBay shipping service in Illinois. Today I received an e-mail sayin that the item could not be delivered because it didn't pass the inspection (reminding you that we are talking about books in Russian, not Chanel bag)! eBay also said that I can keep the money and they will refund the buyer, but the books were liquidated! Does anyone has experienced anything like this? I am just curious to know what happened.

eBay International Shipping determined that the item would not pass customs for the receiving country.
The buyer was refunded, you get to keep your money, and eBay liquidates the inventory. I know it's disappointing for a cool item to not be delivered.
I don't know who buys the eBay items.
