Item Broken during shipping - how to handle?
I have an item that was shipped via USPS and it arrived at the customer's location "broken". This is the first time that this has happened. I've already contacted the buyer and told them that I would issue a refund. Is there any way for me to recover the value of the item from the USPS?

Mentor1 year agoHave buyer send you pictures of item and packaging, especially any carrier note of damage. Ask them to hold on to everything for inspection. File a claim at USPS.com with those pictures. Expect to have to appeal the first auto denial of claim.
Note that no claim will be paid if item was not properly packaged, especially if it was hidden damage.
