Item arrived totally damaged.
Hello, can someone please help me? I received an item shipped from the US to Germany, and it arrived completely damaged. The item was shipped without proper protection.
Now I have the option to return it, but I would only receive a partial refund because nobody will reimburse the very high import fees I had to pay to the post office upon arrival. These fees were extremely expensive.
Why should I lose money for a product that arrived completely damaged? I honestly don’t know what to do in this situation. The seller offered me a full refund, but eBay won't let him send it, because I already opened a return-case. And now eBay Germany told me they can’t help, because it is considered a US eBay issue. This is so insane.

Have you checked with German customs about a refund when you send the item back? It is usually called duty drawback - they should have a process for requesting the refund once you have proof of the item leaving Germany.
If the seller has already accepted the return, there is no way for him to issue a partial refund. He did have that option but needed to select that rather than selecting to accept the return.

OP4 months agoThank you. German Customs are a nightmare. Before I spend another week at their office, I will close the case. Sometimes you lose, so I guess I’m the loser in this case. Very sad experience! I would have been happy with a partial refund, but eBay would not allow that.
