Item arrived not as listed
Hello. I bought a deck of playing cards. The listing only mentioned that there were no jokers & no box. 52 cards arrived but there are two cards that are the same number & same suit. So I am missing one card to complete the suit & have an extra of the other suit. What is reasonable of me to expect from the seller as a resolution? They are insisting they counted the deck 2 times before shipping to me. Which means apparently it’s not their responsibility…

Mentor3 years agoGo and take a look at your purchase history. You can find it on the top right of any Ebay page. Hover over the words My Ebay. A menu will appear, click on Purchase history. Find the transaction. Look to the right there is likely to be a large blue box you can click on that says Return This Item.
OR
eBay Help page
https://www.ebay.com/help/buying/returns-refunds/reporting-item-didnt-receive?id=4042
1. Go to Purchase history.
2. Select More actions beside your item and then Return this Item.
3. Now you select the reason you are requesting the return for refund.
4. You have the option of adding a message to the seller.
5. Select Send request.

Thank you for your response. When I let the seller know, they made it clear that there was no way the deck was different before they shipped it to me. They never apologized. Or asked what I would like. Offered a partial refund of only $3. I said I didn’t feel that was a reasonable. . Explaining that the listing said only no box, no jokers. Didn’t say a card was missing or in fact that there would be two of the same number & suit. That I can’t play cards with my elderly mom whose brain isn’t going to be able to not see that there are 2 of the same card. That it’s confusing for my brain & that’s what I bought the deck for was to play with her. I paid a lot for this deck for it to not be complete.
Well again seller said they counted 2x, the most they would refund is $5. Then said they could look for a single card or partial deck. Gave them a week to do so. Checked in & said I’d thought of a solution. That I could use a purple sharpie marker to fix the suit. They could stop looking if I did this & I could finally use my cards. I asked that they refund $7.67 what it costs for the markers.
“No, only $5 as I told you & you can get a single marker at a craft store:)â€
They have acted this whole time as if I did something to the deck when arrived. That I made another card appear. That I just want money. I haven’t asked for a refund of all or even half. I haven’t asked to return. *They say in the listing- no returns accepted*
I want the deck. I just think it’s fair that they refund the money that had to be spent on the markers. I say markers bc they come in a 2 pack. They are acting like I’m just trying to buy a pack of markers off of them now. I decided there wasn’t a point trying to work this out with them further. Messaged with an eBay rep, we did an return request.
Seller responded with stating: “you don’t need whole pack of markers for one color. I have been more than reasonable for 1 card. I can use my cricut & make you a symbol to put on the card or I’ll refund you $6 max.â€
I wanted to respond with:
I have health issues & can’t go to the store. So I have to buy off of Amazon. Which costs me $7.67… but I still don’t appreciate the attitude coming from the seller from the start. They are missing the point of this. Their responsibility in this.
I bought this vintage deck & was willing to pay so much for reliving childhood memories with my mom who is an elderly stroke survivor. She has been slipping away with dementia lately. My dad died suddenly 3years ago, her childhood sweetheart & husband of 52yrs. Just 3months before that she had her stroke & has been changed since. But she can still play cards.
My health issues from being a domestic abuse & trauma survivor won’t work with having to ship the deck back, get a refund & shop for another deck. So that’s not the solution I’m seeking.
I just want the seller to take responsibility for the fact that the listing & what I was sent are not the same. To stop having it be alluded to I did something or am trying to take advantage an attitude in their responses.
Conserving my energy & time, I want to keep the deck & be refunded what I asked for to make it right. Which is $1.67 more then what their max offer is now.

I am sincerely sorry for what you are going through with your mother & your health, but the facts are that you either return the deck for a full refund or accept whatever the seller is offering you.
Ebay cannot force the seller to increase the amount of their partial refund. Ebay stands by their Money Back Guarantee which allows buyers to return an item for a full refund if it is not as described.

Thank you! & I get what you’re saying. I appreciate the facts. Does it not matter the attitude of the seller? The action of selling the item not as described & then the attitude after, as a seller in the eBay community? When seller & buyer are supposed to be able to work out a problem. Wouldn’t eBay want to know?
Thank you for your time=)

Also, if I have proof they are lying about being sure that the deck was complete saying they counted 2x…does that matter in this?

I repeat, either return the item for a full refund or work out something with the seller.
mam98031
Mentor3 years agoIt won't matter. Just return the item for a full refund and find the item from some other seller or accept the partial refund the seller offered. Those are your only two options at this point.
I sure hope things improve for you VERY soon. ðŸ˜
