Item Arrived Broken
I purchased an item and sadly, it arrived broken. I had not used Ebay in over a decade, is it a rule that refunds do not go back to the original payment? I was not planning on trying to buy anything else through eBay ever again. It was a one time thing and sadly it didn’t work out. Why am I now stuck with an eBay gift card ? I understand the security excuse but there must be another way to get my money back. It is not my fault nor the seller that it didn’t work out.

You are protected by the eBay Money Back Guarantee for 30 days from the date of receipt: eBay Money Back Guarantee policy
Go to the item in your Purchase history and file a RETURN using the reason "Does not match pictures or description" or use the reason "Arrived damaged". eBay will issue you a pre-paid return shipping label regardless of the Seller's return policy. You return the item and the Seller will have 2 days to refund you. Failing that you go back to the claim and ask eBay to step in and force the refund.
You can report a Seller here: Report an issue with a seller | eBay

OP7 months agoWhat if I’ve already received a “refund†but it shows up as an eBay gift card?. I don’t want an eBay gift card. I wanted the item which arrived broken and had to return it. I’m so annoyed. Thanks for the reply

If it were me I would still initiate the official return through eBay. If the Seller sent you a gift card that was supposed to compensate you ... well, this is the first I have ever heard of that happening. I can't imagine that was done through an official return claim. I have never had an eBay Gift card but the first thing I would do is try and check the balance on it ...
