Item arrived broken
I purchased an item that was broken in the box when I received it. The box was not damaged in shipping. The seller does not accept returns. I emailed the seller to advise them and asked what I should do. They said they spoke to eBay and eBay said I should take the box to the post office to file a claim and I should open a request under the eBay money beck guarantee. Why would eBay tell the seller I should do both? The box was not damaged in shipping but the packing was insufficient to prevent breakage. I told the seller I didn’t have the time to stand in line at the post office and their suggestion was to open a claim with the post office online. I requested a refund from the seller and have not received a reply.

The eBay MBG overrules the sellers no returns policy which is for buyers remorse returns only. ( changed mind, doesn't fit, etc.)
Contact your seller and let them know that THEY are the one that is required to file the insurance claim. Provide the seller with photos of the item, the box, and the packing material so that they can try and file an insurance claim. Hold on to all items in case the postal service wants to see them.
YOU do not wait for an insurance payout if any, insurance is for the seller. You are covered by the eBay Money Back Guarantee.
If the seller doesn't issue a refund after you provide those photos then you file an official refund request.
Select the return item button on this page: https://www.ebay.com/help/buying/returns-refunds/returning-item?id=4041
Reason> arrived damaged.
4 business days after you file the refund request ask eBay to step in and help if the seller has not refunded you OR issued a return shipping label>
