Item arrived after eBay refund – how can I tell if the seller was reimbursed
I purchased an item from China that was delayed in customs for several weeks. I opened an Item Not Received case, and eBay refunded me because the seller didn’t provide valid proof of delivery by the deadline.
The package has now arrived, and everything is exactly as ordered. I want to keep it and I’m happy to pay if the seller actually lost the money.
The seller has asked me to purchase the item again, but before I do, I want to know if eBay already reimbursed or protected the seller. I don’t want the seller to be unpaid, but I also don’t want to accidentally pay twice if eBay already made them whole.
As the buyer, is there any way to determine whether the refund came from the seller or from eBay under seller protection? Has anyone been in this situation?
