Issues with Searching

Question

Hoping someone on here can help. When I enter the desired words in the search bar, I get a LOT of random stuff that doesn't match the search words that I entered. As an example, if I search RCA Video Monitor, I'll get a few items that actually match, but many more that do not. Examples: Sony Trinitron PVM-2030 Color Video Monitor *No Remote*, Panasonic BT-LH910G production monitor *Anton Bauer Gold Mount* 1200 Hrs* Tested, UNBRANDED Dual LCD Rack-Mount (MODEL 3G-9270) Tested & Working (NO DC) #27

Is there any way that I can configure the search function so it only shows that match the words that I entered?

When you search using keywords, eBay finds listings that match those keywords. eBay considers a listing to be a match if the keywords are found in the title or in the item-specifics (the box just above the body of the description).

When your keywords are very general terms, they tend to appear in many listings. For instance, many video monitors have RCA jacks, and so might have RCA mentioned in the item specifics. And lots of cables for video monitors have RCA plugs and might also satisfy your search.

So you might want to search differently depending on whether you are looking for a video monitor with RCA inputs, or a video monitor specifically made by RCA.

If you wind up with a general search with lots of matches, try narrowing the category to weed out some of the unrelated items. You may have to search multiple categories if your target might be in more than one, though.

You can also try grouping your keywords, if you know that your results should specifically include the exact phrase "video monitor" with no intervening words.

Of course if you are looking for a specific series or model number, include that information in your search to immediately filter out unrelated listings. For instance:
