Issue with a buyer
Summary: lailacohen is dealing with a challenging buyer situation. The buyer initially asked to cancel a bid, claiming their autistic son placed it. Despite reminders of the no-cancellation policy, the bid was won, paid via autopay, and the item was shipped. The buyer is persistently claiming that eBay approved a refund and is demanding it, causing concern for lailacohen about potential fraud or damage to the item. They have sought advice due to feeling pressured and bullied by the continuous refund demands.
I had a bidder ask me to cancel a bid right before the auction ended. He claimed his autistic son placed the bid. It states on my listings that I do not cancel bids nor accept returns. I reminded him of this. He won the bid & then asked me to cancel. He paid via autopay about an hour or so afterwards.
I paid for the label, printed it, and have shipped the item.
I messaged him this morning to advise him I shipped his item this morning, and thanked him for his purchase.
He keeps sending messages that the item will be returned and he will be refunded because he personally called and spoke with eBay customer service and said that they (eBay) approved the refund. The funds say “processing” on my end and that they should be sent to my bank account on August 8th., which is today.
Can you please advise me if this person will in fact get a refund?
I’m concerned that he will do something to damage the item or say he never received it just so he will get his way. I meticulously wrapped the item with extra care and even made a video of me packaging the item.
I do feel he is in some way bullying me with all the messages saying he WILL get a refund. And that I WILL receive the item back.
I would love to get some insight on this. I have done the research on eBay’s site/app about returns & refunds, but this one is bazaar. Thank you for my advice, help, or any info you can provide on this.

Mentor1 month ago@lailacohen Never force a sale. It does not end well for the seller.
I understand that this is frustrating.
If the buyer files a refund request SAYING that the item is not as described then you need to accept the return and issue the return shipping label.
If you do not accept the return willingly then the buyer can ask eBay to step in and force a refund. You do not get your seller's fees back, you get a defect and the buyer may be allowed to keep the item.
If the buyer abuses the eBay MBG in some way then you can report them but it doesn't get your money back:

Sellers have protection for return abuse if they offer FREE RETURN shipping on their listings OR if they are a Top Rated seller and offer 30 days or greater returns.
The seller can then reduce the refund amount by up to 50% if the buyer sends a different item or somehow reduces the value of the item.

After you receive the item back you can try and appeal the case.
