ISP could not fulfill and order I shipped
Summary: vinwood01 shared an issue about an international shipment through eBay's ISP that was unable to be fulfilled, receiving an explanation related to potential import restrictions without specifics. Despite contacting support, they received unclear feedback, saying the item was 'liquidated' and had failed inspection. vinwood01 seeks advice on how sellers can get specific reasons for such cancellations to avoid future issues. disneyshopper responded by highlighting common international shipping restrictions for certain items like used clothing, toys, perfume, and knives.
Hello Community,
I shipped something that went through ISP headed to France. Nothing harmful or dangerous. I got a message today telling me that eBay was not able to fulfill my order. The explaiton (or lack of) was
"We wanted to let you know that unfortunately this item could not be shipped internationally. As a result, your order can’t be fulfilled. This could be due to import restrictions or eligibility requirements."
As a seller, that infers that there could be something I need to know, to make sure I do not have problems in the future. I've looked through my hub etc but found nothing more. I checked Help and just found very general possible reasons. None of the information found could tell me what I needed to know. AI chat attempts were very frustrating but I finally got through to a human agent. Well, he couldn't provide any more useful information than the AT BOT did. All he could tell me was it was liquidated, which was in the tracking. He said it failed inspection. There could be many reasons for that.
Was it damaged in transit?
Was there an import restriction or eligibility problem?
Was there some problem with the operation? I really doubt ISP put the item through it's motions as other things were needed. I did clearly post a photo of the item working as it should in the listing.
It was a vintage item packed in it's original box and securely packed in a shipping box. I understand stuff happens in shipping. If that's all I'm good with the information. But if it was rejected for some reason I can avoid in the future that is what's important to me. I don't really expect to get resolution here but, I wonder if anyone knows how a seller can get a simple answer to why eBay ISP cancelled a shipment. Maybe my expectation is too simple but I guess my years in customer service trained me differently.
If it wasn't damaged I hope it finds a new home and just trashed.
Rant done
Thank you for your attention to this matter ;-)
