Is this deceptive advertising?
I'm a vinyl collector, who came across an eBay listing for a record I'd been looking for, or so I thought.
The listing title was the name of the band and the album name. It didn't say what format, but I assumed it was vinyl since the listing include an image of the album cover (not a CD shell cover), plus the fact that my search criteria specifically stated "vinyl" and I didn't scroll down to look at the product details (my mistake).
Now, the seller won't accept a return even though it hasn't been opened.
I think this falls under deceptive advertising, but would like to get other opinions.

Mentor6 months agoWhat is the item number? The category the item is listed in will display at the end of ITEM SPECIFICS.

OP6 months agoYes, I saw it listed as a CD under the Item Specifics after I had bought it (my mistake), but I still feel it was deceptive by including an image of something it wasn't and not including the format in the title. I'll pay closer attention in the future.

Mentor6 months ago@ja114209. A sellers listing cannot be misleading. If they had a photo of the album then you should return it for a full refund.
The eBay Money Back Guarantee over rules the sellers return policy. You have 30 days from the date of delivery to file a not as described return request for most categories AND 3 days for Trading Cards.
Here's what you need to do:
Open a return with the reason doesn't match description or photos.
Select the return item button on this page:

Let me know if you need to return an item to another country as there are additional steps required. The seller pays return shipping for an item that is not as described no matter where they are located.

OP6 months agoThe seller closed the return, so I'm trying to ask eBay for help by following the instructions:
However, when I click on See Return Details, there is no option to ask eBay for help. It only says "This return is closed."
How else can I get help from eBay?

Mentor6 months ago@ja114209 What reason did you use to file the return request? If you selected a remorse reason such as changed mind, found better price, etc...then the seller can deny the return.
A return request must be filed within 30 days of the date of delivery AND then only stays open for 21 business days, or about 31 days.

OP6 months agoThat might be where I messed up, because I think I put down "bought by mistake" as my reason.

Mentor6 months agoUnfortunately that means that the seller can deny the return as it's a remorse reason. You will not be able to open a new a return request.
I hope it wasn't too expensive.

OP6 months agoI don't recall since I typically don't choose a category before doing a product search. I'll just put in key words, including the band name and "vinyl" in the search.
