Is there any way to hide the automated feedback?
Honestly, I do not understand automated feedback at all - what is the purpose? Seems a little disingenuous, but if ebay wants to do it - okay. But that creates issues for me. I only reply to actual positive feedback from a person (as opposed to AI or whatever is going on at ebay) and that was easy before... the new feedback was at the top of my feedback list. Now since AI feedback became a thing - my feedback list hasn't changed at all. It's the same months old feedback that was there before. So I do not know when someone gives me REAL feedback, so I can no longer return the favor. Which - btw - is the real reason for feedback in the first place. The idea is not that the sale went smoothly - the idea is that the sale went smoothly and the buyer was impressed enough with the purchase to respond.
So - imho - thumbs down on the automated feedback, but if you're going to do it without my permission at least allow me to hide it and have my REAL feedback list return to the way it was before with the new feedback at the top of the list so I know who to respond to.
Thanks.

Mentor8 months agoI like the automated feedback. Most buyers don't leave feedback. I have received 94 automated feedback. When I see that my feedback number has increased, I go to my feedback page and I click to see the automated feedback. If an automated feedback is at the top of the list, I go on to something else. If I see an actual feedback, then I go to my Paid & Shipped orders in order to leave the buyer feedback.

OP8 months agoI have it set that way. The top 5 feedbacks are all from the same sale to one guy - they are identified as "past month". Beyond that the feedbacks are all "past 6 months". I know that can't be correct because - before automated feedback - I had PLENTY of feedback within the last 6 months.
But whatever - you're just another seller, right? No control over any of this. So far as ebay? I understand they want to look good - "Hey, look at all these positive sales on ebay!" They want everyone to have 100% positive feedback to make buyers feel comfortable spending money. But to me? If it aint broke - don't fix it. Fake feedback doesn't help. I'm just going to tell buyers I won't be offering any feedback on sales from here on. "Problem" solved.
Thanks for your help.

You have about 138 feedbacks for the last six months. Look again.
I'm just going to tell buyers I won't be offering any feedback on sales from here on. "Problem" solved.
Well now there's a sales-killing idea! I've seen buyers leave negative feedback because the seller doesn't leave feedback for buyers. eBay doesn't leave automated feedback for buyers - only for sellers - so I'm not sure what problem this would be solving.

Mentor8 months agoHi @indyhb
I agree with you 100%. However, eBay doesn't...
To follow-up on @eburtonlab 's reply, sellers can remove the view of automated feedback from their list as well.

OP8 months agoI have that deselected, however it does not solve the problem which is my feedback is no longer putting the new feedback (from real users) at the top of the list like it did before automated feedback became a thing. IOW... Previously...
- I would see my feedback number increase (from 99 to 100 for example)
- I'd go into my feedback to check
- Right at the top of the list would be the newest feedback for me to reply to - easy
Now I've had the same email at the top for months, which means I have to search thru ALL my feedback in the hopes that I might recognize which one is the new one. Which makes answering to feedback about as easy as catching a unicorn in the wild.
My suggestion? Rather than forcing this automated feedback on us - how about allowing us to turn it off altogether? I don't want fake feedback anyway - it's like a participation trophy in sports... totally meaningless.

Waiting for Buyers to leave you FB before you leave them FB is what some have referred to as the Feedback game. You have sold 22 items in the last 90 days, looking at straight averages that's like one every 4 days. As your account grows the frequency will of course increase.
You can certainly handle FB anyway you prefer but for myself I leave FB for Buyers when the items ship, thanking them for their purchase and business. Then it's done and I don't have to deal with it later.
Sellers also cannot leave less than Positive FB for Buyers so waiting to see if a Buyer leaves FB first to me doesn't make sense, but that is just my personal opinion and NOT a criticism of how others handle it.

OP8 months agoThe reason I only leave feedback after the buyer chimes in serves multiple purposes imho...
1) If they don't leave feedback - they obviously don't care about it. Saves me the trouble (as opposed to you giving positive feedback every time)
2) It encourages HONEST feedback which - to me is the ONLY REASON FOR FEEDBACK (which obviously - by itself - rules out AI "feedback").
3) My sales are all honest and straightforward. Therefore I've only had about 3 or 4 negative feedbacks in however many years (and sales) I've been doing this. Out of those - all except one were based on lies that could easily be debunked. And the one true problem I would have gladly solved if they didn't send nasty negative feedback before giving me the opportunity to correct the issue. I'm not going positive on every sale for that reason alone.
4) It also encourages people who HAVE a problem (and there have been a dozen or so of those) to discuss with me first BEFORE flying off the handle and giving me bad feedback. Out of those - I've solved every problem in one way or another on my own - either giving them a refund (full or partial) or offering a similar item free or whatever. I'm not in this to rip people off or leave them unsatisfied with their purchase.
Which brings us to another ebay issue - the guarantee sales. If they want to guarantee all sales - then they should be the ones PAYING for it. Not the sellers.

Mentor8 months agoHi @indyhb
Use the sort option to see most recent feedback first.

Mentor8 months agoeBay decided to do the automatic feedback since less than 40% of buyers leave feedback. Many sellers were mad that they were working hard to please a buyer and then not receiving anything from them. So eBay will automatically leave a positive feedback if the buyer has not left a feedback after about 10 days. If the buyer subsequently leaves a feedback within the 60 days window it will replace the automatic feedback that eBay placed for the seller. In order to see the automatic feedback you have to click on the box on the feedback page that controls what is shown on the page.

Mentor8 months agoNot sure how it looks as a seller, but as a buyer, looking at another user's feedback page I can uncheck a box that says "show automated feedback" to remove that feedback. It may be different if you are looking at your own feedback page, though.
Use the "?" icon in the lower right of most eBay pages to report issues or problems with a page or feature.
