Is their anyone else that feels, as though eBay fee's are to high !
Hi eBay community, I have been selling on ebay for fairly steadily for approx 9 mths now, Just when I think I'm starting to break even never mind making a profit. They say you get 250 free insertion fee's the paying when you sell the item they take 40 cents for insertions fee, then they take the total amount of the sale add all fees to to top as seller I'm working for eBay there has to be a better way !!!!!

To answer the question as to how many Sellers think fees are too high here is the short answer:
-All of the current estimated 17.6 MILLION Sellers worldwide.
-In 2014 was their peak for registered Selling accounts at 25 MILLION ... some may have left because of the high fees LOL!
-When you price your items the price needs to cover the following items so you make eBay Fees a non-factor: Your price needs to cover your item COST, eBay Fees and most importantly your profit margin.
If you price things that way and they don't sell on this venue then sell them elsewhere, it's pretty simple really and just a function of the math.
-Don't use Best offer, it just drives prices down
-Don't use Promoted listings of any kind, the ad fees just cut in to your profit
-Don't run discounts if your items are priced at the lowest amount to cover the items mentioned above.

Mentor4 months agoYes, ebay charges the FVF on item price + shipping + sales tax + .30 or .40 transaction fee (depending on item price). If you are not making enough profit, you need to either find a less expensive source for your items or increase the item price.

Mentor4 months agoOh, there are many, many people who feel that eBay's fees are too high.
It does take a while to get used to and/or really learn everything you need to know about eBay's fee schedule.
One thing you state above is incorrect: "They say you get 250 free insertion fee's the paying when you sell the item they take 40 cents for insertions fee . . . ."
Those 40 cents that eBay keeps after somebody buys your listed item is not an insertion fee.
(When an insertion fee does apply, it is currently only 35 cents.)
Those 40 cents are the per-order portion of eBay's Final Value Fee. It is 40 cents when your buyer pays a total of $10.01 or more. It is only 30 cents when your buyer pays a total of $10.00 or less.
eBay's Final Value Fee (FVF) system has two portions. The first is the per-order portion, described above.
The second is the percentage portion. That percentage for most categories is currently 13.6%, but it ranges from 6.7% for guitars, to 15% for jewelry (even costume jewelry) and watches, to 15.3% for books and magazines, etc.
The percentage portion is applied to the total amount that your buyer pays, which usually consists of:
Item price + shipping charge shown in your listing + sales tax at the percentage in effect at the delivery zip code.
There may occasionally be a small additional fee, such as when an item is sent to an address in Colorado.
The state of Colorado charges a road use/delivery fee that is, I believe, about 28 cents, paid by the buyer.
Many eBay sellers take the position that their buyers pay their fees. They do this by carefully planning their shipping arrangements and pricing their items.
