Is it common for a seller to bother you to change a rating?
Ive had a few who have reached out to me to have me change a rating on items ive bought. Once i set a rating i dont wish to be bothered to change it unless under special circumstance. I give a neutral or bad rating based on my experiences. Whether for delayed item or something else. If an item has been delayed beyond the due date, lets say bought on august 1 and due date was supposed to arrive on august 8 but was delayed until august 14 i would give a neutral or bad rating for shipping speed and no or little communication. Then a month later the seller bothers me to reconsider changing rating is not very good seller etiquette. I allowed it once before but a 2nd or 3rd time i rather ignore sellers messages

Mentor2 years agoI kind of agree with the other person who responded. You have one neutral complaining an item arrived a day late. As a buyer this isn't useful for me. Did the seller ship within their handling time? The delivery is an estimate so a neutral for a day late is on the harsh side too. Sellers will ask for revisions in situations like this and understandably so if it's out of their control.

OP2 years agoLike i said iam very impatient and expect that the item marked for due date will arrive as promised. But as i encounter more delay its clear to me its something beyond anyones control. I will continue to handle ratings as i see fit on my own terms. Shipping speed and communication is the 2 most important topics when dealing with purchase of an item. And is not always 100% satisfaction.

Mentor2 years agoHi @fiveon_249
You’re leaving neutral feedback for about 1/4th of your transactions … many for reasons that seem beyond the seller’s control.
Sellers do become concerned about their reputations becoming damaged unfairly … and will often contact the buyer in the hopes of getting a change to the feedback.
IMHO, much of your feedback seems like nitpicking … and not particularly helpful in evaluating the seller’s service. Use this information however you wish.

OP2 years agoI will probaley carry on with how i rate my experience with a seller. I think i expect too much from a seller in terms of the shipping, and the arrival on due date considering factors involving customs and weather...one time message said there was a railroad malfunction that made an item delay furthur. And another time a bottle of vitamins never arrived because the seller broke the bottle. Iam not very patient it seems. That behavior will remain unchanged. But will continue to do business with ebay as it is a great platform to buy things i need.
