Hi eBay community, I currently sold an iPhone the buyer open a case claiming phone had problems and could not use it I tried to help the buyer as I explained the phone was in perfectly good condition and was set to factory settings, we had the phone for 2 years never once had a problem with it. Now he is shipping item back for a full refund, I have no problem with that, my concern is he has tampered with phone and what if he changed the internals of the phone what could I do? Please anything would help thank you

Mentor1 year ago@salcido_family If the buyer files a refund request saying that the item is not as described then you need to accept the return and issue the return shipping label.
The eBay Money Back Guarantee overrules your returns policy. Your return policy only applies if the buyer files a buyer's remorse return: Doesn't fit, changed mind, etc.
If you do not accept the return willingly then the buyer can ask eBay to step in and forces a refund. You do not get your seller's fees back, you get a defect and the buyer may be allowed to keep the item.
If the buyer abuses the eBay MBG in some way then you can report them but it doesn't get your money back:

Sellers have protection for return abuse if they offer FREE RETURN shipping on their listings OR if they are a Top Rated seller and offer 30 days or greater returns. The seller can then reduce the refund amount by up to 50% if the buyer sends a different item or somehow reduces the value of the item.

OP1 year agoHi thank you for your reply, today eBay gave the buyer the full refund and I still haven’t received the item the tracking number that was provided said item was sent back to sender, so now I don’t even have the phone. This truly wrong from eBay this is an abuse. eBay should allow the seller to inspect the product before refund. Anyone could claim item was returned and they keep the item and get the money returned to them it’s a win for the seller.
