If the registration location or the shipping address is outside the US, the international fee applies unless the seller is using eBay International Shipping.
"If your registered address is in the U.S., we charge an international fee if either:
The delivery address for the item (entered by the buyer during checkout) is outside the U.S.;
OR if
The buyer’s registered address is outside the U.S. (regardless of the delivery address for the item)."

OP3 weeks agoBut why does the seller pay that it should be the buyer he chose to be out of us not me

Mentor3 weeks agoIt may depend on the specific payment method used, but the buyer is most likely paying something as well -- it costs money to move funds across international borders.

eBay charges its fees to Sellers, with very limited exceptions.
Your buyer's decision to use a freight forwarder is completely separate from anything that eBay offers. For all eBay knows, your Canadian buyer has a vacation home somewhere in New York, and that's the address you were given.
I don't have the time or interest this morning to "study" your recent sales and try to figure out how much eBay retained from any specific sale as an International Fee.
BUT, just like eBay's Final Value Fees (FVFs) on every sale, you will* be allowed to deduct the International Fee on your federal income tax, as a business expense.
*Or may be allowed to deduct -- depending on your own personal income tax situation.
