International Snafu? Anything you can Do?
Shipped an item from US to Canada - it went went to the UK instead - no updates since the 14th. I do not know if it will be re-routed or not. Other than waiting to see what will happen, what if anything can I do? I am somewhat concerned that if I shipped another one it would have the same fate. I have advised the customer to open up a case. I only ship to Canada and haven't had this problem before. Seems strange, I read that Canada postal workers were are on strike, perhaps this is related somehow?

OP1 year agoBeen selling a long time but just added Canada about 6 months ago. I had help from eBay customer support as it was not showing up. I most likely added it so I would see it say Canada. I probably should not have done that. It's gone now, hopefully those in Canada can still see it as I do get some business from there. I am guessing that is why some tracking numbers started with an LG and some with an ESU. All of the ones with ESU say "eBay International Standard Delivery ".
I learned something new today and I thank you kind sir.

OP1 year agoOh crap, I see it now - I have EIS as my default but there are 2 other options, USPS First-Class Package International and USPS Priority Mail International Flat Rate Envelope. He selected USPS First-Class.
Great, so Im going to be out on this one.

Mentor1 year agoI recommend revising your shipping methods and removing the other direct ship options.

Mentor1 year agoEbay does not have a forwarding center in Miami Florida. Does tracking show delivery to this address when you check it? Let me know as that changes things.
There is a package forwarding company that buyers in other countries often use at that location in Miami.
You can go to your shipping label page and see what address you shipped to.

OP1 year agoThanks for the idea to do the lost package search. But unfortunately, it returns "First Class Mail International Items and First Class Package International Items are ineligible for an inquiry. I did ship with eBay so it's good to know they will refund the buyer and I will keep the sale though.

Mentor1 year agoEBAY will only refund buyers if use the eBay international shipping program. You ship to an eBay package forwarding location in the US then ebay forwards to the buyer.
You used a direct shipping method so you will have to refund the buyer out of your pocket.
I recommend only using EIS for international shipping especially to Canada while the postal service strike is on going.
If you are not eligible for EIS at this time then you need to block shipping to Canada until the strike is over.

Mentor1 year agoYou can try filing a lost package search if you direct shipped to the buyer. It is odd that it's going to a different country.
Once a refund request is filed you need to refund the buyer within 3 days if not eBay can be asked to step in and force a refund then you get a defect and do not get your seller fees back
If you're shipped using the eBay international shipping program then eBay refunds the buyer and you keep the sale
