International Shipping - Who pays tracking on low-cost items now?
Hi!
Prior to the new international shipping program, buyers would pay shipping based on where they lived internationally. For trading cards with lower price points ($4.99 for example), the shipping would calculate to whatever it needed to be and be paid by the buyer. Those funds would then obviously be paid out to me and used to cover the quoted shipping. In and out. For domestic orders I've always offered free shipping and priced things accordingly with no issue. I'm unable to do that for international since shipping tends to vary, so it's calculated based on location.
Now it seems that every international order I receive, the buyer pays nothing for shipping, and shipping label costs come out of my available funds if I choose to print one. How is everyone doing this now? Are you just sending low-priced cards via plain white envelope to the eBay hub and hoping for the best? Or paying out of pocket for shipping labels?
A chat agent told me that sending via plain white envelope with no tracking to the eBay hub was the usual now, but I really don't like that since it would then be shipped globally with no paper trail at all. I've had multiple items go through the international program over the last few months WITH tracking, and nearly all of them have been late by multiple weeks with minimal tracking updates along the way.
Just curious what everyone is doing here or if I'm missing something. I have not updated anything on my end that I recall - I just let the international program assume it's new process.

·2 years agoIf you're using Ebay International, your shipping domestic, no matter where the buyer lives.
If you offer free domestic shipping, they won't be paying you any shipping, but they will pay Ebay for the International shipping part.
