international shipping USA to UK

Is there some reason that eBay is telling me that an item in the USA to be shipped to the UK cannot be despite the seller offering international shipping and assuring me that he can ship to the UK?

WHAT are you trying to purchase??? We have no account access here so can only reply to what you supply us with.

It depends on the item and what restriction there might be for shipping that particular item to your country. Policies on restricted or prohibited items â€“ overview | eBay

That help page has a long list of policies covering different items.

Another issue is that the item exceeds the eBay International shipping specification for size and weight or the Seller made a mistake in the shipping section of the item and the result is that it shows it does not ship to your country.

Thanks for your reply.

I'm trying to purchase a vintage front fork for my ancient Peugeot bicycle (at least 50 years old!). I'm not sure why this would be proscribed as there can't be much demand for this.
