International Shipping U.S. to China
Summary: mrsellustuff9 is selling a Nikon camera via auction with a "Buy It Now" option initially set at $1,500. He received a query from a prospective buyer in China who was unable to bid due to apparent restrictions. comics-scifi-collectibles explains that the listing shows it is currently an auction at $227.50 and mentions that China might block the import of used electronics like cameras, which could be causing the issue. They advise that once bidding starts, the 'Buy It Now' option is removed, and also suggest blocking buyers from regions where shipping cannot be offered.
Good Afternoon -
I sell an assortment of items around the house, but primarily use Buy It Now. I have an old Nikon camera that I decided to use the Auction format with a starting price at $225 with a $1,500 "Buy It Now" price.
I've gone to the flat USPS Ground shipping model which has worked out well as most items purchased are located in the western portion of the country where I live.
This item I did the same. $10. I marked international, knowing that I'd ship to the U.S. Hub which in term would charge the buyer and handle the international shipping.
I received a message from a prospective buyer from China who said he's been blocked from bidding (or buying) this item. With the language barrier and artificial translators, I'm trying to be careful how I phrase my sentences. I first told him "sure you can buy the item"
then he came back a second time and said he'd been blocked. Told him I'd investigate. China is listed as ok, and I don't see anything China-specific
Anyway, I can't figure out what exactly is blocking this deal? No lithium batteries. May the $1,500 is too high? I can't find this anywhere in shipping policies. I don't see any current U.S. policies, but maybe Chinese import issues? I can't change this now that it's been bid on.
Any direction or insight would be appreciated.

Mentor1 month ago · Edited@mrsellustuff9 This listing is an auction and is at $227.50 I am not sure where you are seeing $1500.00. $2500 is the price limit for the eBay International Shipping Program
The Buy It Now is removed once bidding starts. I hope you don't plan on getting that much for it as it is now an auction ONLY.
The listing does not have shipping to China. If you view the listing as a China buyer it just says contact seller for shipping. This means you would have to direct ship to the buyer which I do NOT recommend.
I do recommend blocking buyers in locations you do not ship to in account settings to avoid buyers from trying to purchase items that they can not pay for.
Click this link: https://www.ebay.com/bmgt/buyerrequirements Then block buyers with 2 or more unpaid items in 12 months.
Also block buyers in locations you do not ship to.
Google tells me that China blocks import of used electronic items which includes cameras. That is probably why China is blocking the import.
