International shipping for ebay charged me almost $80 for shipping and taxation for shipping 6 books
I purchased 6 books on Marcel Proust from the Folio Society, and the price was very fair and reasonable, so I was happy; it translated to $131 from the UK. When I paid for it on PAYPAL, international shipping and taxes cost almost $80 more, which to me seems excessively high, and I wanted to complain to EBAY INTERNATIONAL for **bleep** me financially to over $207 from a $131 purchase. There should be another option for more reasonable shipping since you charge so much, and the 11 pounds for taxes is absurd, because I do not even live in the UK! I live in Columbus, Ohio, in the United States. I feel like I was raped financially on Ebay International, and I am going to talk to someone about it on the phone, because this is not right, paying almost $210 for a $131 transaction.

Mentor2 years ago@rgutow It's the UK Global Shipping Program that charged the shipping. Talking to a US agent isn't going to help you any.
As for the taxes that is Sales tax charged by your state. eBay is required by law to collect and remit sales tax charged by the buyers state.
I am not familiar with the UK postal system but if I were to ship a box to the UK that weighed over 4lbs it would have to ship Priority Mail. For example a 6lb box that would be roughly $89.
Anything over 4lbs has to ship via Priority Mail I am sure that the UK has some similar postal rules.
International Shipping is very expensive, especially the heavier or larger the box is.
