International item
I shipped an international package. Ebay determined prior to shipping overseas (it only made it to the hub in IL) that it did not meet guidelines and would be returned to me. A few questions: 1) when I refund the buyer, do I refund the shipping costs as well? Answers are very vague. 2) Will ebay refund my seller fees since they made the determination to return the package to me to refund?
Any help appreciated. This is the first (and last) time I'll do international shipping.

OP2 years agoDo you think that my seller fees will be refunded by eBay?

Yes. When you refund, you receive fee credits on the amount of the refund.

OP2 years agoHello.
It won't allow me to copy/paste so I'll type it out for you.
"You will not be charged for the ebay international standard delivery shipping label or the return label.
We ask that you complete the following: 1) Ensure the return address specified on our ebay account is accurate. 2) Upon receipt of the item, please promptly refund your customer. Order and item detail links can be found on your orders page.
We apologize for the inconvenience. Fortunately, this return will present an opportunity to relist the item again. Thank you for helping your customers. We are glad to have you as part of ebay and wish you the best in future sales on the site."
Trying to get in touch with someone directly (and not the virtual chat) is nearly impossible. Thanks again for any insight or help. It does look like package is headed back to me.

Thanks so much for posting that. It conflicts with the Help topic information as well as what we've been advised by eBay. I'll bring this to their attention.
Don't refund until/unless you receive the item back. When/if you do, you would refund the buyer's entire payment as this was not the fault of the buyer.
Every country has restrictions about what can be sent their and the burden is on you to research that to ensure that what you are shipping is allowed. You can do that on the USPS website here:

Mentor2 years agoHi @sccrmom03
It sounds like you used eBay International Shipping. If so, they handle refunds on your behalf, and therefore don't return items to the seller.

Are you sure you were told that they will return the item to you? If so, can you copy and paste the body of the message you received (obscuring any personal information) in a reply here so we can take a look?
