International Insurance Rules
A parcel from California to Ireland did not arrive after 30 days. The buyer filed a claim with eBay and I was told by eBay to offer a refund for the undelivered parcel. Is there a 30-day limit for international shipment arrival imposed by eBay? I then filed an insurance claim ($99). Two weeks later (45 days) the parcel finally arrived at the destination, but I had already made a refund. And the insurance rep denied my claim, noting (correctly) that the parcel had been delivered.
This seems like a catch-22. If eBay tells me to make a refund after 30 days, but the insurance company denies my claim because the parcel was delivered in 45-days, what should a seller do? Shouldn't eBay's terms and the insurance company's terms be hamonized?

OP10 months agoThanks. Yes, shipped on eBay's International Shipping Program. Yes, label printed using eBay's app.
I just called eBay but the (very hard to hear and hard to understand) agent told me my time had expired. The parcel was delivered in July, but it is now October and, basically, "you waited too long" and we're not going to do anything about. It's times like this I seriously consider abandoning eBay for good.

-First, was the item sold via eBay's International shipping program?
-Next, did you print your label through eBay and not at the carrier's counter or an internet postage site?
-eBay recently launched a new feature for Sellers who have been forced to refund via an eBay claim filed by a Buyer that they did not receive their package. If the package is later delivered and delivery detected, eBay will reimburse the Seller. HOWEVER, we know this applies to US sales, not sure about international sales and we know the Seller has to print the shipping label through eBay but not sure if it applies to International shipments sold with an eBay International label or one simply purchased through eBay for an international shipment.
Here is what the new policy says, it is extremely short on details and even though we have asked for all the details on the new policy as of this writing we have no answers.
Previously, if we approved a buyer’s INR claim, you would have to refund the money and would be out of a product. Now, if you use eBay labels and ship your items on time, we’ll reimburse you once we detect delivery.
You might want try reaching out to eBay and ask them to "reimburse you" per the new policy and see what happens, you can read that policy statement above in case the CS rep you get is not familiar with the new policy.
