Below the shipping method options, there is the option to add more insurance. You can also add signature confirmation, which is required on items over $750.
I actually ask eBay about it in a chat session so and I was told that my $1,050 item (that's what sold for) was fully insured and I even confirmed it by asking different words and she said it was so I didn't get any additional insurance. She could have cost me a couple grand. They made it there okay but that's unbelievable that they would give me that kind of information. Also, i was told that that the compensation thing is if something happens but it's not insurance. in other words if something happened I could be reimbursed up to a hundred bucks but they specifically said it wasn't insurance so it's just ridiculous they don't have their stuff together. And what the heck are they doing calling Insurance compensation!?! Why wouldn't they call it insurance?! That's an amateur move at best.
What's worse is that you are more informed than "support,"
And the payment system?! FLAWED, shady & unfair! I won't even go there.
I would not call the payment system flawed or shady. You only have to imagine the scams that eBay must protect against to understand the restrictions. Until the day that AI can determine the less than honest among us, we all must accept the systems that keep us all safe. Look at it from the buyer’s side.
I don’t know why the rep didn’t just direct you to the help page on insurance. Not everyone can answer every question, so they/we should not try to answer the ones where our knowledge isn’t complete. But then, half the challenge is realizing when you don’t know the answer ðŸ˜
