"Insurance" makes purchase impossible
This has been happening for some time sand the lack of ability to tell a service about it is as frustrating as it!
I have been an active ebayer for a long time - and the way things have been going - I am finding I try to find alternatives more and more...
When purchasing something that offers the Allstate insurance - which I virtually ever want on an essentially disposable small item anyway - AND the one time I agreed to it (on a powerwasher) the claim I had was so regreteable - so ridiculous - that I never would agan anyway.
That was done because - as till occurs - checking NO to the offer makes the "buy now" never happen - just a spinning timer for forever.... I even inquired at a seller how to purchase without it....and after them understanding what was happening - they had no control. I NEVERWANT THIS PRESENTED AND ESPECIALLY TO INTERRUPT THE PURCASE AS IT DOES.... below is a copypaste of the screen whihc never clears --- how can this be avoided?

Try checking out using a private or incognito browser window, or another browser entirely.
If that works better, try clearing your cache in the original browser.

OP2 years agoThanks but as stated - did that - with customer service tech online and it still ocurrs (not always but on some products where the insurance popup happens) - and I will add you can see I have had the problem since at least 5/29 when I first posted here about it. Only when I go to the seller site and order there can I get around it....(I will also note that just my 24 years here and that not when I started using systems - this ain't my first rodeo. They have a problem...it will prove to be connected to the unwanted popup (and uncontrollable by user) of the insurance add on....).
And IMHO - having heard the excuses along the line of some system on my end - any and all are entirely common use - it too only shows the actual problem is on the Ebay side as it should absolutely positively not have things that require customers to not use these things that are virtually common use in one way or another! (I agree something like cache, etc. reasonable operational problems that are more on user than them....but Browser....etc (which it isn't) - THEY should not think for a moment that the customer has any reason to question Chrome, etc.....

Mentor2 years agoThe problem may or may not be on eBay's end.
If you start out by assuming that the problem may be related to something you have some control over -- like a browser version, or choosing to add an item to a cart rather than using a buy-it-now link -- then there are things you can try to get around the problem. They may not work, of course, but each one provides additional information about the problem.
On the other hand, if you start by assuming the problem is on eBay's end, and you are actually wrong about that, you may be waiting a long time for eBay to fix something that eBay cannot actually fix -- if the problem is with a particular browser update, for instance.
Even if the problem is entirely on eBay's end, if using a different browser allows you to get around the problem and complete a purchase, isn't that useful information you would want to have? Knowing that information might be helpful in diagnosing the actual problem, and getting the right person to actually take a look at fixing it.
If this was a problem that was happening to every user -- or even just a significant fraction of users -- one might expect to see some indication of that reflected in the discussion boards. Users are not shy about reporting problems that prevent transactions from being completed.
There are many common issues that can be diagnosed or gotten around by trying the same thing in a different browser, whether it is because of a problem with a particular browser, browser version, cache, cookies, settings or add-ons.
If you included the information that you had tried to complete your purchase in more than one browser in your original post, I must have missed it.
