Insurance claim
I received an item that was damaged from shipping. I messaged the seller , he asked for pictures which I sent. He said he would file an insurance claim. I received an e mail to confirm the damages and claim which I responded to immediately. A couple weeks later I checked in with him as I hadn’t heard anything. He responded saying the claim was approved but he didn’t know for how much, he said he would know how much in a few more weeks and he would refund whatever they said was approved? This just doesn’t sound right to me, am I missing something? How do I contact e bay or the insurance to find out what’s happening?

You do not have to wait for the claim settlement to get your refund. The insurance is for the seller’s protection - you have the eBay money back guarantee. Open a return for an item not as described.
Go to your purchase history - select return this item. Under reasons select does not match the description, and follow the prompts.
The seller has 3 business days to send you a return label or a refund. If he doesn't, or says he can not send a label, go to your case and click 'ask us to step in'.
