Insufficient postage
Hello. I recently sold an item where eBay provided a shipping estimate as part of my original post and the buyer covered the shipping. I am being told by my local post office that the label provided will not cover the needed postage based on the weight of the package (12lbs) and the destination. I’m not sure how to proceed as I do not want to cover the additional postage. I reached out to the buyer to make them aware but I don’t know where to go from here as the buyer paid for shipping based on the estimate that eBay provided. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

That sounds frustrating. Don't rely on eBay weight estimates
When "the Buyer pays for shipping", that money is given to you/the seller.
- Then you pay for the shipping label.
- The amount the buyer pays for shipping could be more or less than the actual final shipping cost, it is based on the settings chosen in your listing when you created it.
- The amount you pay for shipping is based on the actual final shipping details you enter before you click to print a label, and the actual weight and dimensions of your item.
Be sure to always enter the correct weight and dimensions when you list your item and choose calculated shipping. Don't use eBay's guestimates which can be way to high or too low.
A seller isn't allowed to ask for more shipping than what was in the listing.
If you chose not to ship, you will have to cancel for 'out of stock' which is a defect on your seller account.
I suggest you ship this item, learn from it, everyone makes this mistake at least once. Then you will continue to grow your eBay business.
