Inquiry Regarding Shipping Issues from Canada to U.S. and eBay Policy on Broken Seals
Dear eBay Support,
Good afternoon,
I’m reaching out to express concern regarding ongoing challenges with shipping items from Canada to buyers in the United States. At present, DHL appears to be the only consistently reliable carrier for cross-border deliveries. However, despite their efficiency, I’ve encountered a recurring issue: items often arrive with the manufacturer's original seal broken.
In one recent transaction , the buyer was kind enough to accept the item as new despite the broken seal. While I was fortunate in that case, I’m concerned about future scenarios where a buyer might refuse the item due to this condition.
Could you please clarify eBay’s position in such cases? Specifically:
- If a buyer rejects an item solely because the seal was broken during transit, would the seller be held responsible?
- Is there any recommended guidance or protection for sellers facing this issue?
- Should Canadian sellers reconsider shipping to U.S. buyers under these circumstances?
I appreciate your time and look forward to your guidance.
Sincerely,
G. O
