Individual or business

Question

I am new to this, but selling on Ebay, do I sell as an Individual or as a Business? The chatbot is worthless. I have a business, so I assume that since I can't find anything about a business account, then I sell as an individual, but keep records of what I sell so I can charge it off as business expense and income?

If you are buying things to sell, then you are a business. However, you can be a sole proprietor (with SSN) or a registered business (with EIN). When you make your first sale, eBay will ask that you confirm your selling status and contact/tax information. The declaration of personal or business account type can be found in your account settings:

You will also be asked to connect your checking account, and the name on your eBay account must match at least one of the names on your checking account.

If you are using your personal checking for your business, then a personal account would be appropriate for eBay.
