Incorrect shipping notifications
I received an eBay notification that my purchase was being shipped I had already received it. I received a notification a return had been received by me and the clock was ticking for me to refund the money. The item was still 3 states away from me and I of course I hadnt received it. The latest shipping notice was I am getting an item delivered today and no item is delivered and it never was going to be delivered today. So my question is, how screwed up is eBay's shipping and delivery notifications right now? Peter

OP7 months agoDid you not read the title? I'm talking about the quality of the eBay notifications not the returns process. I'm not imagining things. Ebay has got into the delivery notification business and is sending erroneous notifications. THATS the problem. I'm looking at tracking and eBay for some reason is sending notifications that aren't based on reality. Either you are an eBay employee misdirecting, an AI bot, or someone who doesn't understand basic English. I have enough problems tracking and dealing with the delivery companies I don't need eBay jumping in and making everything worse. Peter

I read the title. I am a volunteer Mentor not a bot or an employee. I am a seller and buyer on eBay for 28 years, trying to help you.
"I received a notification a return had been received by me"
Yes, I suspect because USPS scanned the item as delivered , when it was accepted. That triggered the eBay notification. It's a real thing that happens.
What does the actual USPS tracking show? If you give me the tracking number I will check.
OR
You can check here: https://tools.usps.com/go/TrackConfirmAction_input
Look at what the first scan says, when the customer gave the return to USPS
If the case says the item is delivered, then please contact eBay via the social media links I gave you. Or refund before receiving the return, or do nothing and eBay will take the money.

This sounds like USPS error. Occasionally the handheld scanner is set to 'delivered' when it should say 'accepted' so the first scan creates a 'delivered' entry.
If you are close to the time you must refund, but you don't have the item back yet, I suggest contacting eBay's social media customer service to get assistance
