incorrect shipping label
Made a sale...YEA! Customer paid for shipping as listed (1st class envelope). Ebay charged me for wrong shipping label. Have tried to get through to customer service to resolve problem. Last chat with service rep was not productive. Today I tried to go through chat to try again, but my last chat is still active and I can't cancel out.....I'm blocked. Anyone got any ideas? (like a secret ebay phone #....?). Many thanks and kind regards, Donna

Mentor4 months agoAlthough you can specify that you will ship using first class letter, you cannot print the shipping label through ebay.
However, if you are selling trading cards, postcards, stamps, currency & coin, seeds, decals (I think that is all), you can use ebay Standard Envelope.
The ebay standard envelopes are "read" by the scanners at the sorting machines in the hubs, which is why there are size and thickness requirements. Then they are sent to your local post office for final delivery. That is why they show as DELIVERED several days before actually being delivered to the buyer.

Congrats on your sale!
You cannot purchase USPS First Class postage through eBay as it doesn't come with tracking, so I expect you were charged for the correct label (the one that eBay defaulted to unless you changed it).
Note that you can ship via First Class Envelope if you want to, but you would use stamps for that. It's not advised though as your selling metrics will be dinged if you don't have tracking.

OP4 months agoThanks for your insight. However, I have previously listed two auctions with lst class postage (ebay listed as an option), and printed the first class labels through ebay. Yes, there is no tracking available. My problem with this sale was that ebay charged me for Ground Advantage when that was not listed as one of my shipping choices for the buyer. Now, my chat seems "frozen" because I must have pushed too many buttons trying to get through to a real person. Ebay has always given excellent customer service previously when I encountered a problem. Still stuck! Kind regards, Donna

Mentor4 months agoThere is no way to print first class postage on eBay so that isn't what you printed. You probably mean an eBay standard label.

OP4 months agoOne of the shipping options offered by Ebay is "USPS First Class Letter". I've had two sales using that shipping option and printed the shipping labels through Ebay.....no stamps

As I stated in my first response to you, you can select USPS First Class Letter for your listing (though you shouldn't as there is no tracking). You cannot purchase a USPS First Class Letter label through eBay as there is no such thing.
When you go back to that label purchase record at the link below, you'll see which class of service you purchased.
