incorrect shipping label
Ebay put the wrong "shipped from" address on the USPS shipping label for an item I sold. Can I do a pen and ink change on the label and will the Post Office accept it?

No, you cannot write over the official return address that eBay has on file. If a return happens and eBay provides a return shipping label it will be the one you printed out on the label, not the hand written one.
Sellers have 5 addresses to set up BUT, if you need to change one the Edit function does NOT record the change in eBay's program, you need to ADD the correct address then go back and Delete the old one.

Once you get the address straightened out you can Cancel the label your purchased within 28 days and you will be credited the label cost in 21 days or less from when you cancel the label. You can do that on this page: Track and manage your shipments (ebay.com)

OP2 years agoThanks Mr. Lincoln! Per your advice, I cancelled the original label and will wait for a refund. I purchased another label with my new "ship from" address that I had entered. FWIW, I'm normally a buyer, not a seller and I must admit that I didn't do due diligence in researching all aspects of selling.

No, you need to purchase a new label. The tracking system includes the ship from as well as ship to location and other information about the package. You can purchase a new label using the link in the dropdown next to the order.
BEFORE you do though, be sure to update ALL of your addresses in your profile here:

The next time you purchase a shipping label, on the label creation page, check to make sure that the zip code displayed for your Ship from/return address is correct. If it's not, click the Edit link and select the correct address as your default. After that, it should "stick."

It will take about 14-21 days for the refund to come through.
