Incorrect Item Title by Seller Leads to me getting an Unpaid Buyer Warning
Hello all. I buy and sell sports cards and have been buying again recently on this site. If you don't know about sports cards, some can be extremely limited and will say so on the card, as low as 1 of 1.
So the other week I bought a Cooper Flagg Insert Rookie. The title said it was #/99, a very rare and expensive card! After I won the card, I found out that the card is actually #/199. Still a nice card, but worth a fraction of the one #/99. There was a picture on the auction, but with these cards, there are colored "refractors" (and each color is limited to a different amount).
Because it's so shiny and small, I could not even see what number it was. I just knew that it was numbered because of the others I have seen on the site. I also do not know which colors go with how limited the card is because I don't own any #/99 or #/199 yet.
So I sent multiple messages saying that I do like the card, but not for that price. And it clearly says it's #/99 in the title, so I wouldn't pay full price and to please either delete (cancel the item, but stating that they made the mistake) the auction or make up the difference in value with free cards or something.
Now the seller canceled the item. But they marked it as unpaid, so I got a strike for not paying. I don't think that's fair at all, because had it been #/99 like they said I would have happily paid for the card!
I looked around and couldn't find a place to email ebay or dispute this. Also, chat is currently closed. Can anyone help me and let me know what I can do to get rid of this strike even though the seller was at fault? If I leave the seller negative feedback (they gave me a strike I don't deserve, it's the least I can do), can they leave it back for me as well? Last thing I want to do is hurt my own account again because I'm trying to get even with someone...
Thank you all for the help! It really frustrates me because anyone that collects sports cards and sells on eBay should know there's a HUGE difference between #/99 and #/199, especially when it is the #1 pick in the NBA draft and his cards are very expensive. Thanks again for taking the time to read this and everyone take care.
