Incorrect item coming from Amazon?
I purchased "Type A Goldfish Food" on Amazon.
I received "Type B Goldfish Food".
Frustrating. Annoying
I purchased "Type A Goldfish Food" on Ebay.
I received "Type B Goldfish Food" shipped from Amazon.
Weird.
Is this a new thing?

Mentor9 months ago@lurajane Sellers are NOT supposed to drop ship from Amazon (or any retail site) but it does unfortunately happen.
Sellers are allowed to use Fulfilled by Amazon where they own the merchandise in the Amazon Warehouse and Amazon ships for them.
You should file a not as described return request. The seller pays return shipping and you get a 100% refund. This also goes on the sellers record.
The eBay Money Back Guarantee over rules the sellers return policy. You have 30 days from the date of delivery to file a not as described return request for most categories AND 3 days for Trading Cards.
Here's what you need to do:
Open a return with the reason doesn't match description or photos.
Select the return item button on this page:
https://www.ebay.com/help/buying/returns-refunds/return-item-refund?id=4041&st=
4 business days after filing the return request if the seller has not provided a return shipping label or a full refund then ask eBay to step in and help: https://www.ebay.com/help/buying/returns-refunds/ask-ebay-to-step-in?id=4701
Let me know if you need to return an item to another country as there are additional steps required. The seller pays return shipping for an item that is not as described no matter where they are located.

I can't speak for Amazon but for eBay it is a reoccurring theme we see from time to time. It is a form of drop shipping which may or may not be allowed based on how the Seller has it set up.
As for eBay:
You are protected by the eBay Money Back Guarantee for 30 days from the date of receipt: eBay Money Back Guarantee policy
Go to the item in your Purchase history and file a RETURN using the reason "Does not match pictures or description". eBay will issue you a pre-paid return shipping label regardless of the Seller's return policy. You return the item and the Seller will have 2 days to refund you. Failing that you go back to the claim and ask eBay to step in and force the refund.
You can report a Seller here: Report an issue with a seller | eBay
As to Drop shipping, eBay has rules for Sellers to follow but since nobody here can see what the Seller has done we can't say if it is 1) a policy violation and 2) if eBay would even enforce the Drop shipping policy if it was violated ... I suspect it would have to be Reported first before anything could happen.

Don't buy from retail drop-shippers.
Be sure to return the item through eBay, not Amazon. If you return through Amazon, your seller gets the refund from Amazon.
