Incorrect information in jewellery authenticity report
I recently had a sale cancelled due to failure of an assay hallmark on an item of 22ct gold jewellery.
I had had the item tested by my jeweller ,who is a member of the UK Assay Office, prior to listing the item, so I knew it was all genuine.
The authenticity report states the item has tested as 22ct gold, but the hallmark has failed authenticity as it is stamped '916'. This is completely incorrect, there is only one hallmark on the item and it is clearly stamped '22ct' and is shown in the listing.
The chat assistant checked the photos in the listing, which shows the hallmark clearly as 22ct, and agreed that the authenticity report was incorrect. They said they would get someone from 'Leadership' to call me so I would have chance to discuss this mistake.
I have been waiting three days now and there has been no attempt to contact me.
This has made me out to look dishonest to the buyer and is extremely upsetting.
I have been a member of Ebay since 2001 with 100% positive feedback from over 1100 transactions.
There seems to be no way of appealing mistakes made by the Authentication dept.
