How do I dispute a recent carrier adjustment associated with shipping and item . The carrier increased the package weight from 30 ounces to 20 pounds, which is clearly incorrect.
The item I shipped was a collector’s edition plastic watch, a lightweight fabric fanny pack, and a VIP tag/lanyard from a Paul McCartney concert. Together, these items weigh only a few ounces. Even with packaging, the total weight could not plausibly approach anything close to 20 pounds.
This appears to be a clear misread or miscalibration of the carrier’s scale. The package was small, light, and nowhere near the physical weight that would justify a 20‑lb charge.

OP2 months agoI shipped in a box via UPS. we have a small business so we used an appropriate shipping scale to determine the weight and carefully measured the box dimensions. After significant struggles with the chat bot, I finally got a call back from eBay and they are going to dispute it with UPS and refund me the money.

Shipping such a small light weight package would cost less with USPS ground advantage
Personally if I have an item that is too large or heavy to ship via USPS then I use UPS and buy the label from PIrateship.com. Pirateship helps with insurance claims and surcharge disputes. UPS does have a list of valid surcharges on their website too. UPS does not add surcharges as often as Fed Ex does.
