Inconsistent authentication process
Dear Mentor:
I am a fairly new seller. I'm writing because my buyer and I have both been inconvenienced by Ebay's inconsistent Authenticity Guarantee process.
This is due to an Ebay authenticity inspector who forced a recent return of an antique ring. The ring had been relisted, purchased by a different buyer and, subsequently, re-inspected on August 19 by an Ebay expert jewelry inspector.
Turns out I wasted time and money on the sale believing the ring was fine given that an Ebay jewelry expert had previously verified the ring.
On August 19 the authenticity inspector expert stated that the clarity of the stone was not as described in the listing. Yet, the listing contained exactly the same descriptions as it did when it was purchased last May.
The ring, previously sold May 26, had been verified as being authentic and true to the description by one of EBay’s expert jewelry examiners.
I am surprised and disappointed in the apparent inconsistency of eBay’s verification service. I now question the sincerity, competence and fairness of Ebay's authenticity process. I also question Ebay's motivations behind their method. They have made money by misleading this seller.
I have not yet resolved this issue with EBay because I have found it impossible to contact them directly. I want to submit a complaint. I am not being supported with the individual attention I need to resolve this matter.
I have removed all items listed for sale. I hope I can get their attention in order to rectify this situation. I may end up leaving Ebay altogether with regard to both buying and selling. This experience is very frustrating.
I am interested to know if any other sellers have experienced a similar issue.
Thank you very much for your time in reading my lament. I truly appreciate any advice / insights.
Kind regards
Lynn
