Import Fees Charged Today 8/28 on an eBay UK purchase??

Was charged Import charges and import fees on a purchase made today 8/28, from eBay UK, being shipped to the US.

From everything I have read these changes were to start tomorrow 8/29 when the previous exemption expires.

(Previously, items under $800 were exempt from duties under the de minimis rule. But starting August 29, 2025, that exemption is being removed for UK shipments)

I contacted eBay CS and they had no idea what I was talking about - Seems suspect to me!

You pay import taxes when the goods arrive and are processed by customs, not on the date of sale. Since your item will not arrive before the change you were charged.

Thank you for your response.

Seems to me that eBay CS should have known the answer to my question, but rather than taking the time to find out, they just made crap up.... very disappointing.
