Import Fees
Trying to buy original Comic Book Art, from Italy.
Ebay has this message:
Due to US customs policies, the buyer of this item will need to pay import fees to the shipping carrier prior to delivery.
But when I do a google search I get this:
No, there is currently no U.S. tariff on original artworks imported from Italy because they are classified as "informational materials" and are exempt from duties under U.S. law, specifically the Harmonized Tariff Schedule's Chapter 97, as long as they are properly documented as fine art. However, you will need correct documentation to classify the artwork as original fine art and avoid tariffs on non-original art or commercial goods.
So why am I being charged an Import Fee?
